Mainly the body produces a hormone called "Androgens" more than usual level which cause multiple small follicle in ovary leading to irregular menstruation cycles ,absent ovulation, metablolic problems like insulin resistance and weight gain.
Polycystic Ovarian Disease is a condition of body where the women ovaries produces multiple immature eggs and get converted to cysts , it is also due to hormonal imbalances .
This is ovaries structural defect which lead to problems like irregular menstruation cycles ,weight fluctuations, other hormonal disturbance and sometimes causes fertility issues .
